Confide in God Unwaveringly – Ulisses Soares

Elder Ulisses Soares of the Presidency of the Seventy shared the story from the Book of Mormon of the people of King Limhi. They determined to.. “turn to the Lord with full purpose of heart, … and serve him with all diligence of mind” (Mosiah 7:19). As a result of their faith, they were promised that “ … he will, according to his own will and pleasure, deliver you out of bondage.” (Mosiah 7:33)

Life is full of difficult times and circumstances, and as we turn to God with “full purpose of heart” we can be given the strength to deal with these circumstances.

“If we are steadfast and do not waver in our faith, the Lord will increase our capacity to raise ourselves above the challenges of life. We will be enabled to subdue negative impulses, and we will develop the capacity to overcome even what appear to be overwhelming obstacles.”

Our Father’s Glorious Plan – Weatherford T. Clayton

Elder Weatherford T. Clayton of the Seventy has shared an inspiring message about the plan of our Heavenly Father for each of us. While the world often sees birth as the beginning and death as the end, these are simply significant milestones during our eternal progression. As a part of Heavenly Father’s plan for us, we needed to experience mortality as a time of experience, learning and growth.
Elder Clayton shared the three pillars of Heavenly Father’s plan.
First – the Creation of the Earth which establised the setting for our mortal experience.
Second – the Fall of Adam and Eve. Even though many see this as a tragic event, it enabled each of us to receive a body. “Adam fell that men might be; and men are that they might have joy” (2 Nephi 2:25). We also have the gift of agency – or the power to choose and act for ourselves rather than be acted upon.
Third – the Savior Jesus Christ and His Atonement. Heavenly Father knew that we would not always make the right choices and so a Savior was provided to enable us to be cleansed from sin. It also includes the universal gift of becoming resurrected after death.

• God’s commandments – “in this there is safety and peace”
• The scriptures
• Prayer
• The Holy Ghost
• Goodly parents
• Priesthood leaders
• The Savior Jesus Christ

He further outlined some counsel for parents and leaders of young people

Gathering the Family of God – Henry B. Eyring

President Henry B. Eyring, First Counselor in the First Presidency opened the Saturday Morning Session of General Conference to speak about the gathering of the family of God that has happened since the Restoration of the Gospel.

He spoke of the ongoing efforts throughout the world of people seeking out their ancestors and gathering them into the family of God through temple ordinances. As we take part in this sacred effort, we need to rely heavily on the influence of heaven to assist us. He also highlights the increasing contribution of young people in this effort:

“In addition, many youth have discovered that giving of their time to do family history research and temple work has deepened their testimony of the plan of salvation. It has increased the influence of the Spirit in their lives and decreased the influence of the adversary. It has helped them feel closer to their families and closer to the Lord Jesus Christ. They have learned that this work saves not just the dead; it saves all of us”
